John is a fourth generation architect, artist, and musician and has been  a Kailua Kona resident

since 1990.

Framing and finish contractor. New framing, Structural Remodeling. Kitchen design and cabinet installation. Custom casework. Light commercial tenant improvements. Project drafting and design.



3/1993 – 9/1994

D.W. Building Consultants, Kailua Kona, HI

Project Manger

Responsible for on-site management of 3000 sq.ft. private residence. Including, running framing crew and subcontractor scheduling and coordination.  Responsible for, renovation of existing home severely damaged by water and wet rot. Including, jacking up of second floor while first floor walls and beams were replaced.


1/1992 – 3/1993

Campbell Building and Construction, Kailua Kona, HI

Project Manager

Supervised construction of 6800 sq.ft private residence in Kailua Kona, HI. From grading to interior finish and landscaping. Hiring and supervising sub-contractors. Safety and quality control. Cost control and expense tracking, balance to finish reports.


9/1990 – 1/1992

Construction West, Kailua Kona, HI

Project Manager

Project Manager for licensed General Contractor.  Daily work assignments, quality control, balance to finish reports, bidding, and contract negotiations. Ran finish crews on 70 unit condominium complex in Keauhou, HI. Responsible for coordinating with primary General Contractor and other sub-contractors.

The Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, Pittsburgh, PA

Chief Exhibits Designer, Building Manager

In-house exhibits design and supervision of in-house design/ fabrication team and subcontracted designers. Responsible for projects from concept to installation and staff training in multiple locations and Building Manager for museum supervising safety and maintenance. Produced exhibits on International Puppetry, Pittsburgh history, motor skills awareness, and others. Designed and produced exhibits sponsored by Westinghouse, Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Pittsburgh Financial Corp., Consolidated Natural Gas and others.

Sculptor and Designer

Self-employed, Designed and built musical sculptures from hand hammered bells to installation pieces using recycled materials. Bronze, Silver and Gold casting and plating. Metalsmithing.

Exhibits Designer

Produced exhibits from concept and design to production, installation and staff training

Concept research, exhibit design, materials research, responsible for subcontracting metals fabrication, electronics, and graphics, casework and specialty fabric work. Responsible for safety, testing, staff training. Produced interactive exhibits on: Vocal Communication, Human Anatomy, ADA handicapped awareness, The Art of Architecture, Math and Symbols, and others. Designed 24x24 foot free span, demountable space frame for fabric maze in Symbols exhibit.

Various workshops with teachers, encouraging the use of recycled materials in the classroom.

Won award for design of musical instruments from recycled materials.

Musical Coordinator

Designed workshops and performances with and for teachers, children, and administrators. The focus of the program was integrating the arts, dance, music and the visual arts, into school curriculums as a tool for education. Worked throughout the Western Pennsylvania area in both public and private schools.  Held workshops for teachers in Alberta Canada and Puerto Rico,  and Washington D.C.. Designed "Sound Room" for the Pittsburgh School for the Blind. Workshops for both special education populations and “gifted” students. Based at the Pittsburgh Museum of Art
